Lander Art Center

The Lander Art Center is a non-profit organization located in beautiful Lander, Wyoming. Our goal is to encourage, stimulate, and support interest in and appreciation of fine art. Exhibitions of local, regional and national art and craft change monthly. In our classroom we offer evening art classes and we bring in visiting artists to teach weekend workshops in a variety of media. We also feature a Summer of Arts Program which includes ceramics, silver, clay, cast, paper, wood constructions, painting, drawing and a lot of fun for ages 6-16.

Music & Theatre

Lander Community Concerts Association

Established in 1947, the Lander Community Concerts Association brings top-notch professional performing artists to Lander each year. Normally there are eight concerts ranging from solo artists, big bands, Broadway shows and symphony orchestras, all for a single adult ticket price of $50, student $20 and a family series for $110 that includes two adults and as many students as there are living at home. Really, a great value for your family.

Fremont Symphony Orchestra

Fremont Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is a full symphony dedicated to promoting the education of sophisticated Classical and Popular music to our musicians and the community. The orchestra’s artistic director, Rebecca Murdock, has directed the Orchestra since 1987. FSO presents three concerts a year in November, January and March and has done so since 1984. The orchestra is a non-profit organization relying on grant monies and donations to support the 50+ musicians involved in the ensemble. The group is open to musicians by audition only, and includes musicians not only from Lander and Riverton, but also Dubois and Pinedale. Fremont Symphony hires import musicians from around the region to fill positions we are unable to fill locally.  FSO performs with nationally re-known professional soloists once a year. The literature we perform is from the standard professional orchestral literature, along with Broadway music, folk music, pop and jazz.

Wyoming Shakespeare Festival Company

The WSFC was founded with the dual purposes of providing exposure to Shakespeare’s great plays to Wyoming audiences and the touring company experience for Wyoming theatre majors and community actors. Diane Springford, who founded WSFC, currently serves as Artistic Director. Thirty to 50 actors are engaged in theatre productions in a typical year, and the WSFC performs before an audience of several thousand annually. The WSFC is directed by a six-member Board of Trustees, primarily supporters of the arts from the Lander area. The WSFC was organized in 1999, and began production of classical theatre in Wyoming in 2000. WSFC is a private, non-profit corporation.

Art Galleries and Bronze Foundry

Lander has several high quality galleries to visit and to find that just-right piece for yourself or a friend. In addition, the world famous Eagle Bronze Foundry conducts tours for those who have an interest the bronze casting process.

Public Art

Art is an extremely important part of Lander’s identity. Over one dozen monumental bronze sculptures line Main Street. Each bronze represents a piece of Lander history or heritage. Native Americans, mountain men, wildlife, and ranching are all represented; even our very own ground hog Lander Lil has a bronze sculpture in her honor. Individual works of art adorn the light poles along Main Street in the form of banners, handpainted for the Beautification Committee by members of the Lander Artists Guild.

The Lander Riverfest is organized by the Lander Art Center showcasing local artists in a two-day, weekend event. Watch artist demonstrations and participate in various activities throughout each day. Examples of artists and activities available at past Riverfest events include:  (Artists) Ron Howard, Garret Scarince, Rosie Ratigan; (activities) Entomology Workshop, River Clean-up; “Create a Story” Collage; Ukulele Workshop, etc.

Craft Shows

Throughout the year Lander has many craft fairs featuring local independent vendors selling homemade goods. Find everything from jewelery to wood working and pottery. Held across town, you will see 2-3 (Christmas specific) Craft Fairs throughout the month of December. Check our calendar for specific dates and locations.
