Fremont County, Wyo. (April 3, 2025) – Dr. Mylissa K. Hess, DNP, MHA, BSN, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of SageWest Health Care in Riverton and Lander, was recently recognized as one of Today’s Nurse 2025 Top Chief Nursing Officers. The recognition highlights CNOs for their significant impact on nursing practice, patient care quality, staff development and overall healthcare system improvement.

Hess, who joined SageWest in 2024, has worked to align the nursing vision with the organization’s goals and values, ensuring exceptional care for every patient. With more than 15 years in healthcare, Hess’ extensive experience and passion for nursing are evident in her commitment to developing innovative solutions that enhance patient care. She takes pride in her leadership and the dedicated team of over 120 clinical professionals at SageWest, all of whom are devoted to providing high-quality care to the Fremont County communities.

Alongside her role at SageWest, Hess is a Nursing Consultant and Preceptor for Western Governor’s University and Chamberlain University. She is a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve with 10 years of critical care nursing experience. Since 2015, she has worked in critical settings worldwide, including Operation Gotham during the COVID-19 pandemic at Coney Island Hospital. She also mentors junior officers and corpsmen.
