For Marisha VanVleet, choosing Lander wasn’t just a business decision—it was coming home.
Her husband’s family has deep roots in Fremont County dating back to the homesteading era, with family history near Hudson. When her husband retired after 35 years with UPS, the family returned to the family ranch, where they now live, work, and care for the property together. Their son, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren have also made the move, creating a true multi-generational Wyoming home.

She listens carefully to patients and, when appropriate, their family members or guardians, ensuring every person understands their diagnosis, treatment options, and the reasoning behind recommendations.

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Marisha brings an approach that emphasizes education, collaboration, and individualized care. And don’t expect a cold, clinical environment—there are no white lab coats or sterile exam rooms here. Silver Sage Psychiatry strives to create a welcoming space where patients feel comfortable, respected, and heard.

Marisha’s Story
Helping people has always been Marisha’s calling.
From a young age, she knew her future would be in healthcare. After spending more than 30 years in medicine and nursing, she returned to school just before the COVID-19 pandemic to pursue advanced specialty training in psychiatric and mental health care.
Completing residency during the height of COVID presented extraordinary challenges, requiring significant collaboration with Wyoming’s state leaders to complete portions of her psychiatric residency at the Wyoming State Hospital. That perseverance ultimately led to national board certification in psychiatric mental health, neuropsychiatry, behavioral health, and addiction recovery.
Marisha opened her first Silver Sage Psychiatry office in Evanston in 2021, expanded to Riverton in 2023, and established the practice’s permanent home in Lander in January 2025.
Outside the office, service continues to be a family value. Marisha and her husband remain active in their local church and are dedicated to giving back to their community. Her husband serves as a provider with Frontier Ambulance, while their youngest son attends Lander Valley High School, where he participates in football, wrestling, and track—and enjoys helping on the family ranch while developing his skills as a horseman.
