For years, many Lander employers have been struggling to fill their open positions, many of them well-paying, due to a lack of available housing. During this time, the Lander Chamber has been attending Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission meetings, monitoring the ongoing discussion and proposals, and continuing to share our members’ difficulties attracting and retaining employees.

At its November 12 Regular Meeting, the Lander City Council considered the Planning Commission’s proposed changes to the City’s Zoning Code (links available here under Item #9) in the hope of providing more housing opportunities within City limits. Lander Chamber CEO Owen Sweeney submitted oral and written comments us support of these proposals, noting, “We understand that these proposals won’t solve all of our housing problems, least of all with respect to affordability, but if some housing can be built that some people can afford, then we applaud efforts to do so.” (Click on the image to read the full letter.)
